Blind bowling in Danville VA has been around for nearly fifty years. During its rich history, the Blind Bowlers of Danville have participated in local, regional, and national tournaments. The league’s members have been very competitive and truly enjoy the sport.

Over the course of the last several years, participation levels have dropped substantially. In an attempt to bring in new bowlers and create a magnet for fun, the Carolina Bowling Alliance hosted the 13th annual CBA Tournament and Shootout in Danville in October, 2009. Lead by Joyce Thomas, the Danville Blind Bowlers brought one full team to the event and they competed very well.

It is the hope of CBA leadership that the group from Danville will use the tournament as a means of recruiting new bowlers from the city of Danville and neighboring communities such as South Boston and Martinsville.

Currently, the bowlers practice on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm. Volunteers are providing assistance with transportation and pinspotting. The League is also able to receive donations of cash or merchandise which can be used to generate funds to assist bowlers in traveling to tournaments and to compete in the weekly sessions.
